JJ Slater has spent the past decade welding together folk, jazz, and psychedelic rock across multiple projects, with his wide, funky, fingerstyle guitar playing at the center of arrangements. His storytelling solo performances and his playful, energetic band performances both feature spontaneous improvisation, medleys, and an unmistakable air of joy and reverence. His newest original record, "The Silver Key", was written in Taos, New Mexico at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, and captures the high desert across nine tracks that push Americana to its loftiest limits while maintaining a greasy, earthy groove. In Fall 2026, he will be releasing a series of JJ Cale tribute EPs (categorized by vibe) and going into the studio (or, more accurately, rural New England Spiritualist church) to record a full-length concept-album follow up to The Silver Key.
