jamali kamali followed by Purleyville

  • Dream Away Lodge 1342 County Rd Becket, MA, 01223 (map)

Jamali Kamali from 5pm-6:30pm. To celebrate Berkshire Pride Month, the Dream Away Lodge is presenting a staged reading of Karen Chase’s Jamali Kamali, a homoerotic love poem that takes place in 16th century India. This event is co-sponsored by Q-MoB and The Bookstore. This will be a wonderful opportunity to hear this work read by actors. Free! “Jamali Kamali explores the name that dare not speak its love.” - Time Out Delhi

Purleyville from 7-9pm. Purleyville is a Berkshire-born band with an acoustic blend of rhythm, blues, folk and rock – original songs with a down-home approach to music and lyrics that have gathered raves up and down the County. Bassist Jerry is a founding member of the Blue Light Trio, the resident jazz band at The Rainbow Lounge in Pittsfield for many years. Percussionist Carol is a dance devotee with a fine-tuned rhythm all her own. Singer-songwriter and guitarist Steven brings crowd-pleasing numbers that have delighted fans from LA to Austin to Nashville, and now to Becket. They'll have guests sitting in on fiddle and harmonica. It promises to be a rich evening of very cool music.
